Clean-Ups
Every year, REC organizes Worcester's Earth Day Cleanups to take place at the end of April or the beginning of May. This annual city-wide event gives neighbors a chance to roll up their sleeves and take pride in their neighborhoods.
You can participate in the Earth Day Cleanups by organizing a cleanup in your neighborhood or by volunteering to help out at any site. All Earth Day Cleanup sites must be pre-registered with the REC. Registering a site is as easy as filling out a Site Application form and sending it to REC by email, fax, or regular mail.
The Earth Day Cleanups are for cleaning up public spaces - it is not permitted to clean private locations as part of the Cleanups. REC will be happy to help people organize neighborhood cleanups throughout the year, as well. |

Worcester's Earth Day 2007 events were successful!
On April 20, 2007 hundreds of people attended Worcester's Earth Day Festival at the EcoTarium and celebrated the planet by learning about the environment. On April 28, 2007 over 700 volunteers from all over the city removed tons of trash (literally!) from 61 sites during the Earth Day Cleanups. Thanks to everyone who helped make these events successful. And a special thanks to Chris Amante, Erin Broadie, and Jenny Quinn - the three students from Holy Cross who were REC's Earth Day 2007 Cleanups Coordinators.
If you were part of a 2007 Cleanup and have a story or a photo to share, please call or email us at 508-799-9139 or recouncil[at]recworcester.org - we would love to include them in our upcoming newsletter.
