5th Annual Slow Food Gala- October 13, 2011
The Slow Food Gala Host Committee and the Regional Environmental Council (REC) invite you to celebrate the REC’s 40th Anniversary by sharing a special meal of local, sustainably produced food. All proceeds to benefit the REC’s Food Justice Program: UGROW, YouthGROW,
Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters™, and the REC Community Farmers Markets.

This event is limited to 250 guests.
The Gala begins at 6pm with beverage stations from Wormtown Brewery and Wine Nation and local cheeses from Crystal Brook, Westfield and Shy Brothers Farm. Peruse the offerings from local businesses at the silent auction while listening to the accompaniament of Dan Burke.
Dinner begins at 7pm, served family style with a choice of Cider-Mustard Braised Chicken or Spaghetti Squash with a Wild Mushroom Ragout. Enjoy a glass of Cabernet Franc or Chardonnay from Truro Vineyards on Cape Cod, courtesy of our sponsor Wine Nation, while listening to live R&B from the Geoff Killebrew Trio.
Help us honor our three Urban Habitat award recipients:
- Father Michael McFarland will receive the Oak Tree Award, given for long-term, persistent and outstanding support.
- Larry Haley will receive the Sunflower Award, given for a dramatic presence that sprung up quickly when it was most needed.
- And Mayor Joseph O’Brien will receive the Beech Tree Award, given for making a committment of long-term support to REC’s programs.
