FREE LUNCHES: THE USDA'S SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM

SFSP Employees at the 7/23 University Park Market

Millions of children have access to the free or reduced lunch programs in public schools around the nation, but what happens to these children when school is out for the summer? The USDA's Summer Food Service Program is there to fill that gap by providing free, healthy meals to ALL children under the age of 18 around the country. There are no eligibility requirements and parents/guardians do not need to be present for a child to get a meal - all they ask is that you eat the meal on site.

There are dozens of sites for this program in Worcester, and the REC is involved with several of these locations. For the duration of the programs, both YouthGROW farms are sites during weekdays as well as the University Park Farm Stand on Saturdays through August.

If you or someone you know has children under the age of 18, direct them toward the University Park Farm Stand at 965 Main Street on Saturdays! The USDA Summer Food Service Program truck will arrive between 11am-11:20am and only stays for about 20 minutes before moving on to their next site.

Be sure to make use of this awesome program!
