FRESH START FOR 26 WORCESTER AREA RESIDENTS

A fresh start has been given to 26 Worcester area residents through "Fresh Start," a workforce development project led by Quinsigamond Community College. This project provides culinary training and job placement to individuals experiencing barriers to employment. All participants received ServSafe Food Handler Certification, FEAST Food & Equipment Safety, MA Allergen Awareness Training, and their Fresh Start Certificate. These skills will help them enter the food service industry, where demand for trained workers has grown significantly in recent years.

The Worcester Regional Food Hub worked with QCC to set up an information session for the graduates with area employers. The graduates were able to introduce themselves to the employers and give "elevator" pitches of their skills. The employers talked about what the open positions are like, potential for growth and how to apply. There was a lot of excitement from both the employers and graduates!

Please join us in wishing these phenomenal individuals the best as they are placed in kitchens throughout the community! We can't wait to share with you their progress over the next few months!
